Handlebar-mount thermometers come in a variety of styles and mounts for 7/8-1" and 11/4" bars, with black or white face, in Celsius or Fahrenheit or both. Most also have matching clocks available.

Common brands include Formotion, Marlin's and Drag Specialties. These are typically $50-$70US.
There are also a variety of Chinese-made gauges on the market that are considerably cheaper.

The first one I selected was from Drag Specialties (2212-0428) which was discontinued. Next was DS 2212-0724, also discontinued.
Both have long since been replaced with the silver-face version, though both of the black/white-face gauges still appear in the DS catalog.

Personally, I prefer the two-tone black/white versions as better looking and easier to read (IMHO). of the five vendors I communicated with,
none were aware of the change made a year or more ago. Drag Specialties never responded and still hasn't updated their catalog.

Next gauge I cam across was Marlin's billet-mount. Marlin's has a 35mm diameter face, 5mm larger that DS gauge and a big improvement.
However, this billet-mount model (from a local Indian dealer) is also discontinued in favor of a more compact 35mm version.
And this might be why:

Marlin's (left) had mount screws just a tiny bit off preventing it from clamping to a 1" bar. (Steel tubing shown measures 1.0005" dia.)
Marlin's was too large to fit next to clutch and mounting rather awkward, whereas the DS gauge was a perfect fit and much more compact.
Marlin's gauge was top quality, secured by a clear seal ring that is surprisingly stout and secure. Mounts screws are buried behind gauge.

Thermometer is top-quality with screw-on watch-style back and seal and well made two-piece billet - aside from misaligned screws.

While DS gauge is 5mm smaller, retainer and O-ring allow it to be easily rotated to suit location. Exposed screws also make installation easy.
Gauge is in a wristwatch-style case (matching clock unit), in this case having a waterproof press-on back with seal.

And finally, accuracy. Happy to report, all four thermometers shown below - DS, Marlin's, darkroom and digital - were within 1-degree.

1 3/4"?! Holy cow, didn't know they got that big! Entering the realm of plumbing....
Have to say, the 7/8" bars (apes) on my old Bonneville look.... delicate. Almost quaint.
Looks like your gauge is mounted between risers. Precious few clamp-on accessories for you, huh.

Third (and final) Marlin "claw" thermometer in situ on Bruno. (My 750 Bonneville was named Arlo BTW, Bruno is still the new kid.)
Re-drilled and fixed the first Marlin, even tho it was too big to fit there on the bars. Long story....
Anyway, as you can see, it's rather toasty here in the northern Sierras. 6.0 earthquake last Thursday on Nevada border was fun, too.
Never a dull moment here in California.

I use this that plugs into a 12v cigarette lighter socket that not only gives you temp but also battery voltage and has 2 USB connections for charging my phone and dashcam.

Aliexpress.com (search "VST 12v")
